What are dentures and why do I need them?

Dentures are artificial teeth, typically made from metal or acrylic plastic. Designed to fit comfortably over your gums, they allow people to eat and speak more comfortably, and restore the shape of the jawline; all of which can be affected by tooth loss.

Dentures might be required for a number of reasons, all relating to tough loss. Common causes include accidents and injury, poor dental hygiene, and sometimes age, and in all cases tooth loss can have a big impact on your day.

No matter the cause, you can trust the experienced dentists at Penzance Dental to help. We are fully equipped to offer full and partial dentures to patients living in Penzance, Cornwall and the wider area.

How the appointment works

We begin by arranging an initial assessment. Not every jaw or mouth is the same, so we take an impression of your mouth. This ensures that your new dentures fit comfortably.

All dentures and partial dentures are made in a specialist laboratory. This can take some time, but we will contact you as soon as they are ready. We can also be counted on to provide replacements if yours have been damaged, or need adjusting.

We will then invite you to try them out, and offer our advice for keeping them in perfect condition and maintaining your overall oral health.
